First Day Jitters

The first day of college classes is nothing to fear, especially if you’re transferring from another school.  Transfer students already know the basic format of a typical college class.  The only difference is that classes are being taken at a different school with unpredictable professors.

The first thing to find is the actual classroom.  All campuses are setup differently and Le Moyne is no exception.  For example, the first floor of Grewen in not the same as the ground floor.  When someone enters Grewen Hall from the main entrance it is the second floor not the first.  Making sure you are on the right floor is vital.  After that, finding the classroom is easy, just follow the numbers.

Once the student finds the classroom, then it is important to make sure you are in the right class.  Asking someone else in the room, “What class is this,” Is not an embarrassing question to ask.  It allows you to know that you are in the right class and now you have net someone new.  That’s what college is about, meeting new people.

Depending on the professor the first day is either the most boring day or the most stressful.  Most professors will go through the syllabus and expectations of the class.  Some will start the class right away.  One class started teaching the material in the last fifteen minutes of the first class.  Getting right into the material after a long break can put the students back in to the school groove.

A last minute tip is to always be prepared on the first day a pen, paper, and the text will do.
