Valentines Day can be lonely, but the unexpected can always happen.
Predicting the Oscars
The 2013 Oscars are upon us. The films nominations this year have left out some (Ben Affleck) and have some surprises (Quvenzhané Wallis).
My prediction for Best Picture is Argo (I would like Silver Linings to win, but that’s a slim chance). Affleck was snubbed and the academy didn’t hear the end of it, they won’t want to make another mistake.
In Actor in a Leading Role I pick, hands down, Daniel Day-Lewis. It’s Daniel Day-Lewis, enough said. For Actor in a Supporting Role I pick Robert De Niro. He probably won’t win, but he made me cry in Silver Linings Playbook.
In Actress in a Leading Role I pick Jennifer Lawrence. She’s amazing in Silver Lining Playbook and she has won the Globe and the SAG. Jessica Chastain is a close second, but I think Jen will take it. For Actress in a Supporting Role it’s going to be Anne Hathaway. She won the Globe and the SAG and no one can get that song out of their heads.
Directing is a hard category since Affleck wasn’t nominated, but I think it will go to Steven Spielberg for Lincoln. I also think David O. Russell for Silver Linings could also take it.
